Bacabs

In Maya mythology, the Bacabs were four sons of Itzamna and Ixchel. They held the sky up in each of the four directions, and each was associated with a color. They were also believed to be jaguar Gods. They were:
  • Cauac
  • south
  • red
  • Ix
  • west
  • black
  • Kan (later replaced by Chac)
  • east
  • yellow
  • Mulac
  • north
  • white
